Last Week

Last week was pretty normal. Not a lot happened.

On Monday I went with Blaine's mom to Jo-Ann Fabrics and I picked up that snap and eyelet maker that was on my '10 Things I Love' awhile back. When I got it home and started using it I found that it was missing a piece so Blaine and I had to go back later that night and get a new one. It's super easy to use and I'm excited to have it!

On Friday Blaine and I went to his mom's house for pie for her husband, Norman's, birthday. Norman is from England so Blaine and I went to World Market in search of snacks/drinks from the UK. We got Kit Kat Chunky and "Pub Mats" (coasters) from bars/beers from England and a bottle of After Death hot sauce just because he likes really spicy things.

Saturday we went grocery shopping and to IKEA to get an entertainment center! Woo!! Blaine got his tax return and we were going to put it towards a new TV but we agreed that we need a new entertainment center to put it on first. Our TV has been on an $8 LACK Side Table from IKEA made of corrugated cardboard and we didn't think that we should put a new expensive TV on that. We started putting it together at 7:45pm and I was finishing putting movies and Wii accessories away at midnight.

All we did Sunday was finish up our grocery shopping. Chuck's, a new semi small grocery store where we get our milk, eggs, sometimes ground beef if it's on sale, produce and I make my peanut butter, is closed on Saturday's. What?! Yeah. It stinks.

(Please bare with the cell phone camera pictures)

Laying out all of the pieces before we start building. And our happy helper.

This part took forever. Nailing the back on with 27 little tiny nails.

Ta da! We just love it. It's perfect for the living room and it holds everything that we need it to. We couldn't get some of the other entertainment centers because the Direct Tv box was too wide or the VHS player was too tall and so on but in this one they all fit perfectly!

Some of our classic Disney VHS's didn't fit. I eventually want to get all of the Classic Disney Movies on DVD (Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, etc)

New skillet+glass lid from IKEA. I also got one of those really magnified wall mirrors that pull out and go in the bathroom for $5, a big orange paper lantern for the spare room for $1 and one curtain panel for $2. Booya!

The boys watching tv. This is how Blaine holds Simon after he's been bad. He takes him over to the couch and sits down as a time out or a cool down but Simon ends up purring and staying for awhile.

How Lily helped build. She made a nest under the built in shelves with the paper and cardboard.

He sat on the chair behind me and watched. To make my cell phone pictures more bearable I downloaded a few different programs and have been trying them out. They all look better on my phone then when I upload them on to the computer...

I just love this picture of Lily

Why yes, I have been wearing flip flops! You might be thinking "She's crazy!". While I have been known to wear flip flops when it's freezing out, it got to be around 60 a few days this week. Although the ground looks wet, it was not. It was gorgeous out and while Blaine cleaned the inside of his car I enjoyed being outside.

I wish

So I've been on the hunt (on for a new toaster. Blaine wants a 4 slice and I want a fun color (red or teal). Turns out toasters are expensive or maybe I'm just cheap. Amazon also doesn't have any teal toasters. I should say aqua or sea breeze or some sort of a teal. I really want our kitchen's colors to be aqua and red. Blaine thinks this is crazy but c'mon this is beautiful!

I also love this aqua and red wedding.

Anyways, onto what I REALLY want. Like REALLY REALLY want. Like all of these are on my birthday list (or Valentines Day ;) ;)

I WILL own these eventually.

KitchenAid Stand Mixer in Martha Stewart Blue Collection in Aqua Sky. Ahhh swoon!! To purchase this for me go here he he he ;) I've wanted a KitchenAid for a long time and this one is peeeerfect!!!
The dream toaster:

Hamilton Beach All-Metal 2-Slice Toaster in Sea Breeze. Just wonderful! I can't find this toaster for purchase ANYWHERE. All websites I've been too are either sold out and don't give you a restock date or they reroute out to amazon which says the same thing. :( booo!

It's been super nice here lately! If you ask anyone else they might disagree and say "No more rain or clouds ever!" but I don't mind it and I just think about the weather I could be dealing with back in Central IL. Saturday was gorgeous, really sunny and almost 60 degrees. We walked along the river then took our elderly neighbors dog, Molly, on a long walk. It's not supposed to rain anymore this week and be in the high 50's but even 50 seems warm. Yes, I did wear flip flops the other day.! If you know me you know that I live in flip flops in the summer, well actually over 50-60 degrees. We've had the windows open a lot lately and it's SO nice to have some fresh air in the house! The cats really enjoy it too and spend a lot of time in the window. Now I REALLY can't wait to get back to the beach!

The river is REALLY high from all of the rain we've gotten recently. It seems like every time we go to the promenade the bridge raises and a barge goes through. I was unsure if the super tall barge would make it under the bridge because the water is so high but (obviously) it made it.

Taking Molly on a walk. Her owner can't take her a walks very much and if she does it's just around the apartment complex once so we took her for a long walk. We asked if we could walk her a couple times a week or when it's nice and she said yes without any hesitation.

Simon loves sunshine. He walks from sunbeam to sunbeam trying to figure out which one would be best to lay in and once the beam moves he gets up and moves too.

I bought a door

Yesterday Blaine's mom, Debbie, and I went to a salvage yard that had old doors, windows, door knobs, light fixtures, buffets, china cabinets, shelves, etc. This 76 year old man has ran is for 41 years and he followed us around telling us all about it and where he has gone to salvage some of the items. Some of the things were really well priced and others were quite ridiculous. Simple, plain doors were $10 and all other ranged from $20-$100. I thought about getting 2-3 old 6 pane windows to hang above the couch or the bed but I decided that I really wanted a door. I've seen all kinds of re-purposed decorations with doors lately and I knew that I wanted to hang it over the couch or use it as a headboard and I still haven't decided.

Ahhh isn't it beautiful? It's tall and skinny and a wonderful shade of minty green :) The other side is just white.

I don't know why it looks SO TEAL here but it is NOT this bright. Even though I do like this color :) Old skeleton key hole, I wish the plate was still on there.
Just wonderful!
It definitely has character and I haven't cleaned it up at all and I have no idea how I'm going to hang it but I'm really excited!! I'm not sure if I should leave the paint or repaint it? I know that Blaine is probably not thrilled with the green but I love it butttt I don't know it goes with the living room or the bedroom. Not that either room has a "theme". But I love the antiqued-ness of it but.. lead paint? I don't know.

10 Things I Love Monday on a Tuesday

I had everything ready to do '10 Things I love' yesterday but I forgot and remembered when I was getting into bed.

This week is all about crafts :)

1. PVC Pipe Frame. I think this looks super cool but I don't have a way to cut the pipe. This would look good if you painted it too.

2. Felt Fortune Cookies. These are super cute and sound really easy to make!

3. Heart Shaped Pot Holders. I would probably do these a little differently. I'm not too fond of the two lines going down the middle and I'd have to add some rick rack :) I just bought some really cute Valentine heart/owl shaped pot holder/oven mitt sets at Target the other day in their dollar section.

4. This isn't really a craft but I'm going to make it into one. I made my own version of the bunting banner stamp in last weeks '10 Things I Love' and I want to make my own recipe cards.

5. Super cute and easy heart hair clips.

6. Felt flower winter wreath. This doesn't have to just be a winter wreath. You could definitely use this in the spring/summer too, especially with the bright colored thread.

7. Miniature Fabric Flower Garland. This is cute and easy too! Can you tell that I like easy crafts? and banners/garland!

8. Glitter Bangles. I think I'll have to make these soon!

9. Paint Sample Garland. I love paint samples and this is a great way to use them!

10. Christmas Ornaments. Yes I know Christmas JUST got over but I really like these and will be making them for next Christmas! Can you tell that I already have Valentines Day on the brain? I can't wait to decorate!! I'm going to make a post of crafts that I've been up to lately later on today.
