10 Things I love Monday

These 10 things I love will be gifts that I/Blaine got for Christmas :)

1. Hand held Dirt Devil. I have been wanting one of these for a long time!! The cats are such messy eaters and they get cat litter everywhere in the bathroom.. Well not anymore!!

2. Griddle. Also something that I've been wanting for awhile! Now I don't have to make pancakes one at a time. (Yes I really was making them one at a time. We only have one nonstick pan and its the size of a piece of bread.)
3. The couch pillows that I've wanted FOREVER. I saw these at Target MONTHS ago and I've really wanted them ever since. I look at them almost every time we are at Target and I was afraid that they'd sell out or something. They go perfectly with our accent wall and I love that there is a different pattern on the backside.

4. Down comforter. I've had one for years but all of the fluff is in clumps in the corners so on my Christmas list I asked for one that has quilted squares so the fluff stays in place.

5. Wii Party/Kirby's Epic Yarn. I got Blaine Wii Party and he got me Kirby's Epic Yarn. We love them both!!

6. Gift Cards. This year we got a lot of gift cards to places like Home Depot, Kohls, Wal-mart and I bought a sweater and candle holder at Kohls, tonight we are going to Home Depot to look at floor lamps and we've been looking at cookware sets on

7. Drill and drill bits. Blaine has wanted a drill for a long time and finally got one. Now we don't have to borrow one anymore yay!

8. Cake Pops book. I have the Hello Cupcake book and Cake Pops is kind of like it but on a stick. I can't wait to make some of these!! But it will have to be awhile because we got LOTS of goodies in all of our stockings.

9. Cat condo. I'm SO glad that this isn't hidden under blankets in my spare room anymore. My camera won't connect to my computer so when I can get better pictures up, I will. Anyways, the cats love it and Lily is always on the middle platform and Simon likes the tube and to lay on the base. In this picture Lily is under the blanket.

10. LED TV. Okay we don't actually have it yet. My plan was to buy Blaine a TV but then I realized that he's way more picky about it than I thought and I don't know anything about TV's so I decided to just give him money for a TV. Which ended up not being as much on my end as I had hoped because the craft fair/Mary Kay things were a bust. Thank you SO much to those who gave money!!!!!!

And Merry Christmas to me, as soon as I can afford it, I'm enrolling in Sheffield School for Interior Design in New York, New York. Just kidding, just kidding, it is but it's an online school :) I've wanted to take an interior design class forever but at ICC I just wanted to get done and graduate and now that I moved NONE of the schools here offer interior design so if I want to do it I have to take it online. I'm really excited and can't wait to get started!

Here is a picture of all of our gifts :) Thank you everyone!!

I haven't really posted an update lately so lets see what I can come up with. Let's go back to the beginning of December. I might have posted bits of pieces of some of these things but not whole story.

I (my Etsy) was in invited to be a vendor at a craft bazaar at a local fancy retirement center on December 1st. So for several weeks prior I was crafting crafting crafting and planning my table display. Well it was a total flop. A booth cost $30 and I made $25 and you had to give 10% to the middle school's PTO that was putting it on. SO I lost $7 and I had a TON of crayons, coasters, brooches and hair clips left over. The lady at the booth next to us didn't sell anything nor did several other people. The "buyers" that were walking around looking at the booths weren't buying. I was at the end of the table circuit and no one was carrying any purchases. Some of the other vendors that go to a lot of bazaars said that no one buys anything anymore and it is just a waste of time and money to have a booth. The next day (Dec 2nd) I set up for my Mary Kay open house at the apartment's club house and the manager told me that the apartment complex next door was having a craft bazaar that weekend and that it didn't cost anything to be in theirs so I said sure. Their craft bazaar was both Saturday and Sunday so Saturday we went to set up and everyone has a nice big table but me. There is just a piece of paper on the ground with my name on it so I set up my card table and sat. All day. NO ONE came to this bazaar but maybe 10 people!! Other vendors said that the apartment complex didn't advertise it except for a tiny sign by the road. I had 3 sales that day for a total of $9 and it was from other vendors! The majority of the vendors sold nothing and they again were saying that it's not worth having a booth in these things. So I decided to not come back on Sunday. I was not sitting there from 9-4 wasting a weekend.

Back to Friday (Dec 3rd). Had my Mary Kay open house. I put fliers in everyone's door a few weeks before, put up a flier at Fred Meyer down the road and had a big sign by the road and I made $17. Woo. Two ladies came and looked around and said that they were going to pick someone up and that they were going to be back in two hours. Nope, never came. One lady looked around only because she came in to rent an apartment and the lady that actually bought something was there because of my flier and that she actually wanted something. So another total bust. Three days wasted that week only to make $20 profit. Worth it? Nope. That seriously cut into my Christmas/bills money.

On to the last few weeks. Went to see the Christmas Ships twice, went to Portland's Festive of Lights (which is a total bust. There isn't that many lights and def isn't worth $16). Last week we went to a Singing Christmas Tree performance with Blaine's dad, sister and aunt and we had two Christmas parties to go to, one for the apartment complex and one for Blaine's work. The one at the apartment was just dinner and socializing and Blaine's work one was at the Red Lion hotel ballroom on the river. There was hor d'ourves, drinks, dinner, gambling, prizes and dancing. They gave everyone (who looked over 21) $500 in Sunlight Supply money to cash in for gambling. They had blackjack, craps, roulette and some spinney wheel that they just threw in there. Blaine wanted to play blackjack but the tables stayed full so I chose the spinney wheel because it was easy and I don't know anything about the other games. The wheel looked like it would be on The Price Is Right, every other number was a 1 and there were 2's, 5's, 10's and 20's. If you landed on a 1 you lost your bet, 2 you're even, 5 you double, 10 triple and 20 quadruple. The first time I spun I got a 2 then a 5 and Blaine got the same. I told him that we should go to Vegas but they actually card you there. After playing the spinney wheel several times and gambling time was coming to a close (and really, I was tired of holding all those chips) we both decided to go all in on the wheel and so did the couple in front of us. You might be thinking "You WANT to lose all of your money?" Yes, yes we did want to lose all of our fake money. Only the 3 highest winners of the night got prizes and we knew having $10 more than what we started with wasn't going to get us a prize. After we were done with that we ate dinner. Sometimes I worry at these things that I won't find much if anything that I like. I'm not TOO much of a picky eater like some people (Emily) but I want to know whats in it. I was glad to see that it were normal things like mashed potatoes, bread, cheese, and turkey. They did have more but I couldn't tell what it was. After that we had desert (lots of cheesecake mmmm) and they did company recognition and prizes. Sunlight Supply gives out GREAT prizes every year to their employees at the Christmas parties. Here are SOME of the prizes, there were hundreds: portable dvd players, lots of tools and yard equiptment, gift cards, Saks 5th Ave purse, lots of iPods, iPad, xbox 360 with kinect, playstation with whatever their thing is to copy Wii, red Wii set, digital cameras, appliances for your kitchen, a weeks paid vacation, 22 inch tv and the grand prize was a 55in Samsung LED TV. We REALLY wanted that. As did everyone else. Some guy that works in one of the warehouses won it. After all of the prizes were gone they gave out bonus checks and started the dancing and that's when we left.

Bored yet? Almost done.

Our only plans this week are just Christmas Eve and Christmas. Other than that I went shopping for Blaine's stocking stuffers and I still want to go get one more thing today. I had ordered some things online and the expected delivery date is the 24th. REALLY hope it gets here on time.

The cats have been surprisingly good with our real Christmas tree. The don't eat it or try to climb it. They LOVE fake garland though, really anything that says "fire retardant" they try to eat. Looks like we will always be having a real tree! They just run around it and mess up the tree skirt like no other. We laid a sheet down before we put the tree stand down and I had to TAPE the sheet to the tree and wedge a jar of change in the tree stand because Simon kept trying to drink the tree water. Every time we would do that he would either get his head stuck or choke on the water because he would start coughing every time. I have the tree skirt wedge between the stand and the tree for said reason as well. There is a hole in the side of the tree stand so we can water the tree so we just have to lift up the tree skirt to do so. Simon did some how get a higher up ornament off the tree and was playing with it around the living room. When I came out he had gotten it wedged between the Wii Fit board and the TV stand and he looked at me and ran.

WHEW. I think that's it!

10 Things I Love Monday Christmas Edition

Time for the 2nd round of 10 Things I love Monday. I've been enjoying collecting different things that I want to show everyone and not just poor Blaine.

1. This wonderful apron. I LOVE aprons and I have several but I always forget to wear one when baking. Then when I do remember to wear one, I don't want to get it dirty.

2. I had to put these in here. You Bake 'Em Cat Treats. Comes with cookie cutters and a recipe book! Stocking stuffer for the cats?! If I didn't have to order it online then maybe!

3. Tinsel Tape. I absolutely love this and other fun tape. I have some zebra stripe scotch tape that I use very sparingly.

4. This mistletoe headband DIY. I tried to make it the other night but I didn't have enough felt.

5. I love these gift wrap ideas from Country Living

6. Might have to make this on Christmas.. mmmm

7. Christmas lights. I LOVE Christmas lights!! Even the gaudy Griswold houses. I think that everyone should leave up some sort of twinkle lights all year round or decorate with them for every holiday.

8. Christmas Ships. This goes along with the Christmas lights. Every year, several times during the holiday season, a good number of boats put Christmas lights on them and parade on the river at different locations. We went twice last week to see them :) I took this picture the first time that we went of one decorated with a Coho Salmon. You can kind of see two other Christmas ships in the background.

9. Christmas decorations. I love decorating in general and our house would be more decorated for Christmas if I HAD more decorations. It might even look how Buddy the Elf decorated Gimbels.

You might be thinking "wow they don't have many ornaments on their tree" (and maybe you're not, I'm used to an ornament on every branch) well we do have quite a bit of ornaments but most of them got concentrated to the front of the tree

Our tree skirt NEVER looks nice. This is because I have two cats that love to run and dive behind the tree then tear out from behind it. The other day I caught Lily playing under there and she had her arms up to her shoulders under the tree skirt. She also likes to put her favorite toy mouse under the tree like a gift. That's another thing. You may be wondering "no gifts!". Those same two cats love to eat bows and ribbon and just wrapping paper in general. Even if it's taped tight to a gift. So all of our presents are in the spare room closet or hiding under the blanket that is wrapped over their gigantic scratching post/tree.

Add ImageWe also have garland and twinkle lights above the kitchen cabinets and snow flake garland around the bathroom mirror :)

And what my house might look like...

I apologize for all of the crappy pictures. Sometimes my camera is great and sometimes I can't get it to take a picture no matter what I try. It also turns on and off randomly and sometimes doesn't work at all.

10. Number one thing that I love about Christmas - Jesus. Because without Him none of this would be possible.

I will write an update blog hopefully tomorrow. I need to go shopping for stocking stuffers and a gift or two for Blaine now. I NEVER wait this late to get Christmas shopping done. We've been done shopping for everyone else a LONG time ago, some even before Thanksgiving. I don't know what is taking me so long to get Blaine's gifts done this year.

2 Years

2 years today my oldest and best friend passed away. We knew it was coming but not as soon as it did. My heart is still broken. It's not just losing a cat, it's losing a member of the family. He was with us for 14 years and having him gone was and still is terrible. I know that no one lives forever but it still doesn't make it any easier. It still kills me that I didn't get to say goodbye.

A collage my mom made my dad on one of is deployments.

Tom and I in 1995ish

One of/or the last picture of us together.

10 Things I Love Monday

A new addition to my blog on Monday's will be a post of 10 things I love. These things could be what I'm crushing on that week, something I've come across online, something that I've done that week etc. I'll also add the link to the item/picture etc to give credit to those lovely people and also so you know where to find it! Enjoy! (How perfect that I'm starting this before Christmas? ;)

1. Jumbo Rick Rack and Pom Pom Trim

2. BADgal blue mascara by Benefit

3. Mood Polish

4. Native American Teepee - For Cats. Maybe we could get rid of the Dyson box if we got this?

5. Tassel Garland-Multi color

6. Vintage Pyrex

7. This letterpress print ampersand

8. These nails

9. New Kids On The Block & Backstreet Boys are TOURING and coming to WA in July. AAHHH!!! WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG?! I guess I've waited 13 years to see Backstreet, 7 months is nothing! BSB won't be complete without Kevin. I guess he figures being almost 40 and having a family is too old(?) to be in a "boy" band.

10. These cute little "hamburger" cupcakes. Blaine asked me to make these for his birthday. In June.

I hope you enjoyed the first installment of 10 Things I love Monday! Time to go wait for the UPS man to get here with my Christmas cards. I hope to get them out today or tomorrow.

Another Reason for Leaving

While all of you lucky lucky people in Illinois are having a blizzard, we woke up to 60 degree weather. We are going to go downtown to the holiday farmers market and maybe even on a walk. I could even wear flip flops!

I had a Mary Kay open house at the apartment's club house on Dec 3rd and an elderly lady came that has this really fluffy Pomeranian named Molly. I told her that I just LOVE Molly and she said that anytime I want to walk her I can. I REALLY want to but it's been so rainy. Today just might be the day! It's kind of windy though and I don't want her to blow away.

6 months

6 months ago I left everyone and everything that I know and love to be with the man I love. 6 months! Crazy right? So I decided to make a list of 6 things that I've learned/have come to realize since moving. I've learned way more than 6 things but lets narrow this down, no one wants to sit here that long.

6. I hate grocery shopping and cooking. I've always loved to go to the grocery store with mom but now that I'm the one that has to come up with the list and pay for it, it's not so much fun. I also hate cleaning. Like really hate it but I also hate a mess. I feel like I'm constantly cleaning and it only stays nice for a few hours

5. I love to decorate. Growing up I would rearrange my room ALL the time and now I have a whole 960 sq ft to play with! I would love to work at Pier 1 (I've applied twice and have called to check on it. Guess they don't want me) and whenever I have extra money (which is never, anymore) I always end up buying home decor.

4. Getting a job is way harder than I anticipated (as mentioned in #5).

3. Life is expensive, and most of the expense ends up being a rip off.

2. How much I've missed having a cat. Tom died just shy of two years ago and I still can't type his name without bursting out in tears. I could never replace him but I love Lily and Simon soo much! I love that they meet me at the door, sleep with me all night long and cuddle with me on the couch. I love that every time I turn the shower on Lily runs from whenever she is to sit on the toilet the whole time I'm in the shower and doesn't leave until I do. I love that they put up with me putting snuggies and santa suits on them. Blaine and I have said before that we don't feel like we're the "parents" we just see them as equals. Even though they can be the biggest butt holes they make me so incredibly happy.

1. I miss everyone TONS and TONS but I don't regret this move at all. If anyone ever wants to buy me a plane ticket or scoot on out here yourself, you are gladly welcomed to do so!!

Christmas Time!

We planned on getting our Christmas tree next weekend but I just couldn't wait! We went yesterday and cut ours down. I've been super excited to decorate for Christmas this year and have slowly been getting stuff over the past couple of weeks but promised Blaine that I'd wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate. So I started decorating Friday night.

And to add to the things we have stuffed in Blaine's car (bikes, 6ft. scratching post, etc)

It actually fit perfectly! Blaine likes tall/big trees and I liked the "Small Firs" section of the tree farm best. I gravitate more towards the smaller trees and Blaine goes for the tall and fat trees but after we measured the car Blaine was a little restricted in height and girth. After seeing all of my selections he made a rule that the tree had to be at least as tall as me. After walking around and around we finally found one that we both agreed on.

And it's perfect and it exceeds Blaine's height requirement! :)

Back to the 6ft scratching post.. For the past couple months we've been contemplating on getting the cats one of those really big scratching post trees with different platforms for Christmas but they are expensive! Well on Black Friday Petsmart had one that we really liked for almost half price so we decided to get it. Once we got to the car in the busy Petsmart/Best Buy parking lot in the rain we realized it was not going to fit in our car. We tried folding down the seats and putting it through the trunk then in the backseat and out the window. Blaine ending up unscrewing the base then putting it in the trunk and through the backseat and it still had to stick out of the truck a little bit. The extra large scratching post is now in the spare room and is wrapped in blankets so the cats can't see what it is. I think I'm just as, if not more, excited to give the cats their gift as I am to give anyone else theirs!

The lack of blogs lately is due to the fact that I've been so busy and my internet is extremely unreliable. I'm a vendor at a craft bazaar on Wednesday and I have my Mary Kay open house on Friday. After this week I hope to blog more. Although after this week it's time to kick up the job search again.
